The election had barely been called and already the whining started. Was Biden too old, too establishment? Would his cabinet picks be too centrist, would he be too afraid of making waves to do more than revert to status-quo the minute he came to office? Were progressives on the left to blame for the mediocre performance of moderates—should AOC and The Squad™️ kindly sit down and stfu?

And round and round the ouroboros goes.

Guys. You guys. WE WON. Let’s just savour it for a moment, mmmkay?

Do you have any idea how few authoritarian governments have been voted out in the history of, well, ever? How few even give their citizens the chance to have a do-over at the ballot box?

No candidate is perfect. Not Biden, not Obama, not anybody. They never will be. If you ever think your candidate’s perfect, you’ve more likely been swallowed by a cult. Being POTUS comes with a shit ton of baggage, from conflicts around the globe to deep divisions at home. Nobody is going to get it all right, all the time.

That doesn’t mean we need to throw the baby out with the bath water.

Just because Trump has been resoundingly defeated, doesn’t mean our work is done. Now is…
